Mavericks Senior Sam Matosich
- Updated: July 25, 2024
Sam Matosich- #11
Sam Matosich is another two-sport standout athlete in both football and baseball, and is in his fifth year with the Mavericks. The six-foot one-inch senior will attend Centralia College in the fall on a baseball scholarship after graduating from Missoula Sentinel. He has served time on all three teams, one year with the “B” squad, two years with “A”, and another pair of years with the “AA” team. Matosich also played with the Missoula Bandits for five years, and an additional two years with the Mount Sentinel all star team. He has racked up over 600 innings at the hot corner for the AA squad, and has a career batting average over .330 for the Mavericks. In his senior year, Matosich is hovering around a .400 average and has reached base over 100 times in 200 plate appearances, earning an OBP over .500. He has played nearly every game in his culminating season, and has racked up over 60 assists and 40 putouts in the field. He has also recorded over 20 innings on the bump and has worked a pair of wins.
Matoshich’s favorite memories with the Mavericks are the annual trips to Rapid City and playing in the firecracker game in front of thousands of fans. “The program here has taught me integrity and I learned how to grow up,” said Matosich. Sam would like to thank coach Keiser for his time on the B team, and everything that he provided as a gateway into the program. Sam will study business while continuing his baseball career next year in the Northwest Athletic Conference.
