Royals Rough Up Mavericks

The Missoula Mavericks would suffer their first lose of the 2017 Montana-Alberta AA Legion Tournament Saturday night as they would fall to the Billings Royals 12-2.
The Mavericks clinched a spot in the Championship game Friday night with a 6-4 win over the Helena Senators, while the Royals were looking to play for a chance to go to the North West Regional Tournament against the Bozeman Bucks Sunday morning, the Mavericks clinched a spot in the regional as the host.
Missoula would earn their only two runs in the opening inning with James Martin earning a run off Drew Leonard, and Dane Fraser scoring off Ryan McHugh’s hit. From there the Mavericks would have 13 hits and left 12 runners on base in the tough lose.
The Mavericks will play the winner of the 11:00 am game Sunday between the Billings Royals and Bozeman Bucks. First pitch is scheduled for 45 minutes after the 11:00 am game.
