Baseball

  • In 1957 New York Mayor Robert Wagner forms a committee to replace Dodgers and Giants.

Boxing

  • In 1966 the first NBA game at Oakland Coliseum Arena, Warriors beat Bulls 108-101.

College Football

  • In 1894 at the 3rd Iron Bowl Alabama beats Auburn 18-0 in Montgomery.

Hockey

  • In 1924 NHL’s Montreal Forum opens.

Golf

  • In 1971 the first pro golf championship is held at Walt Disney World.

Miscellaneous

  • In 1938 Mayor Oud of Rotterdam forbids soccer match between Netherlands and Germany.

NFL

  • In 1934 the Chicago Bears beat Detroit 19-16 in the first NFL game broadcast nationally.
