Our past has shaped the present by many things in history including sports, here is how sports marked our history today.

Baseball

  • In 1977 Mary Shane hired by Chicago White Sox as the first woman TV play-by-play.

College Football

  • In 1999 in the 1st BCS National Championship, #1 Tennessee beats #2 Florida State, 23-16, at 28th Fiesta Bowl.

Hockey

  • In 1904 at the Stanley Cup, Ottawa HC beats Winnipeg Rowing Club, 2-0 for 2-1 challenge series victory.

Miscellaneous

  • In 1887 Thomas Stevens is the first person to bicycle around the world, from San Francisco to San Francisco.

NBA

  • In 1975 the New Orleans Jazz set a then NBA record (with 24-second shot clock) by scoring only 20 points in the first half of a 111-89 loss in Seattle, the unwanted record stands for nearly 25 years.

NFL

  • In 1942 in the 4th NFL All Star Game, Chicago Bears beat NFL All-Stars, 35-24.
