  • In 1920 Montreal’s Newsy Lalonde scores 6 goals as Canadiens beat Toronto St. Patricks, 14-7, Montreal combined 21 goals an NHL record.

  • In 1982 Petra Schneider swims world record 1500 m freestyle in 15:43.31.

NBA

  • In 1967 in the 17th NBA All-Star Game, West beats East, 135-120, the MVP is Rick Barry, SF Warriors, SF.

NFL

  • In 1982 in the NFC Championship, San Francisco 49ers beat Dallas Cowboys, 28-27. “The Catch” – iconic moment in NFL history – Dwight Clark makes fingertip catch for a TD from Joe Montana with 58 seconds remaining, SF goes on to win Super Bowl.
