- In 1972 Bernice Gera wins anti-discrimination case against the National Baseball Congress, initiated March 15, 1971 to be allowed to umpire.
Boxing
- In 1976 future undisputed world middleweight boxing champion Marvin Hagler suffers his first career loss in a controversial 10-round majority decision to Bobby Watts.
Golf
- In 1985 99 year old Otto Bucher from Switzerland becomes oldest man to record a hole-in-one at Spanish GC La Manga’s 130-yard 12th hole.
Hockey
- In 1908 in the Stanley Cup, Montreal Wanderers rout Ottawa Victorias 13-1 for 2-0 sweep of challenge series.
Miscellaneous
- In 1985 John McEnroe repeats previous year’s result with a 7–5, 6–0, 6–4 win over Ivan Lendl to claim back-to-back season-ending ATP Masters Grand Prix tennis titles.
NBA
- In 1962 Philadelphia center Wilt Chamberlain scores 73 points in Warriors’ 135-117 win over Chicago Packers. At the time, most points scored in NBA regulation game, and remains tied for 3rd-highest total.
NFL
- In 1963in the 13th NFL Pro Bowl the Eastern Conference beats Western Conference, 30-20. The MVPs are Jim Brown, Cleveland Browns, RB; Eugene Lipscomb, Pittsburgh Steelers, DT.
