Our past has shaped the present by many things in history including sports, here is how sports marked our history today.

Baseball

  • In 1926 St Louis Browns acquire catcher Wally Schang from New York Yankees.

Boxing

  • In 1967 Muhammad Ali pummels Ernie Terrell for 15 rounds to retain his world heavyweight boxing crown, Ali regains Terrell’s WBA belt as well.

Golf

  • In 1971 the first time a golf ball is hit on Moon, hit by Alan Shepard.

Hockey

  • In 1974 3rd time Rangers shut-out Islanders 6-0.

Miscellaneous

  • In 2018 Brazilian jockey Jorge Ricardo equals world record number of victories for a jockey – 12,844.

NBA

  • In 1970 NBA expands to 18 teams with Buffalo, Cleveland, Houston and Portland.

NFL

  • In 1926 NFL rules college students ineligible until college classes graduates.

Olympics

  • In 1932 the first Olympic dog sled race at Lake Placid, New York (demonstration sport).
