  • In 1984, future 4-weight world boxing champion Pernell Whitaker wins the lightweight gold medal at the Los Angeles Olympics

  • In 1974 at the PGA Championship, Lee Trevino wins the first of his 2 PGA C’ships, 1 stroke ahead of defending champion Jack Nicklaus
