• In 1926 PGA Championship, Walter Hagen defeats Leo Diegel, 5 & 3 in the final to win his 3rd consecutive PGA Championhip title

• In 1866 (Leonard W) Jerome Park opens in Bronx for horse racing

NHL

• In 1926 NHL grants franchises to Chicago Black Hawks & Detroit Red Wings
