  • In 1902 at the Men’s US Open Men’s, Scotsman Laurie Auchterlonie sets new 72-hole event scoring record to win his only major title, 6 strokes ahead of Stewart Gardner and amateur Walter Travis

  • In 1960 Radio/TV executive John Fetzer buys a controlling interest of Detroit Tigers
