After an out standing effort by the Billings Scarlets of ringing the water off the field the Missoula Mavericks and the Scarlets got their game underway and the Mavericks came away with a solid victory over the Scarlets.
Brendon Hill took to the mound for the Mavs and Hill stood tall through the four and a third innings he pitched, allowing nine runs off nine hits, walked three, and struck out one. Saturdays game was the first time for the Scarlets in seeing Hill on the bump and the Sentinel junior stumped the Scarlets through three of the first four innings, with the second inning being a jam for Hill as the Scarlets earned five runs on the inning.
The Mavericks batted .441 on the day with Dylan Chalmers leading the way for the Mavs from the plate as he doubled with a pair of RBI’s his first at bat. Chalmers went 4-5 from the dish with two runs and finished the day with three RBI’s, while Tradd Richardson continued on his RBI spree with three on the day while going 3-4 and earned two runs. In Brendan Buchanan’s second game back from recovering from a back injury he would bat .667 with a run and an RBI, and closed out the game from the mound to give Hill the win. In all the Mavericks would have 11 RBI’s, where walked seven times, and struck out three times between three Scarlet pitchers.
The Mavericks will finish their weekend in Billings on Sunday with a game against Rapid City Post 22 at 12:30 pm, and the Billings Royals at 3:30 pm.
