On a cloudy Wednesday evening the Helena Senators made their way to Missoula to take on the Mavericks and Missoula came away with the a 7-3 win over Helena in the rain.
The highlight of the game was the return of Mavericks senior player James Martin who finished his collegiate season for Miles City Community College last weekend, and made his debut with a splash. Leading off for the Mavs Martin would knock one over the head of the second basemans head and Martin would show his speed picking up a double to open the game for the Mavericks. In his first game back Martin led the Mavericks from the plate going 2-4 with a run and an RBI, and had three put outs and two assists in the field.
As a team the Mavericks batted .258 with six RBI’s and seven walks. From the mound the Mavericks spent five pitchers in the win, with Tradd Richardson earning the win off single inning on the bump, and Kaden Heidrick would be created with the save pitching the final two innings. Both teams did a good job of jamming runners on the bases to finish out the inning combining for 23 runners left on base.
The Mavericks will head back out on the road this weekend for a doubleheader in Bozeman on Saturday and a trip to Butte on Sunday.
