Day two of the 2018 Class B/C State Softball Tournament started out with three of the four Class B Western teams kicking off the day on the winners side of the bracket, but only two moved on.
Loyola and Lincoln County faced off in the first game of the day and Loyola came out with the same pace as they had the day before, loading up runs in the first three innings. The Breakers ace pitcher Kayla Hickethier went to work and showed her veteran spirit stone walling the Lincoln County batters in the first two innings. Despite allowing 10 runs, only two where created to Hickethier, Loyola would fall to the error bug for the second game in a row to give the Lions a chance.
From the dish it would be the Carly Tipp and kayla Hickethier show as the two would combine for 10 RBI’s with Tipp leading the way from the plate going 3-3 from the dish and earned two runs to top it off. Hickethier showed her offensive skills going 3-4 from the dish, two of which where doubles, and she was walked once. Helle Badaruddin and Charla Goodman were the recipient of the Hickethier and Tipp RBI’s as Badaruddin would score four runs, and Goodman would score three runs for the Breakers.
Loyola will face their Class B Western nemesis Florence Falcons at 4:00 pm today for a chance to play for a state title on Saturday, if Loyola falls to Florence they will play in the third place game tomorrow at 10:00 am for a chance at either third place, or a second shot at Florence in the title game.
