In today’s high school sports realm it is rare to find athletes that participate in more than one sport, let alone a student athlete that is gifted in all three sports that they participate in. Sentinel Spartan and Missoula Maverick Beau King is a multi talented student athlete that has a special gift in having two older brothers that Beau has gained support and insight from.
Beau is a triple threat athlete in football, wrestling, and baseball following in the foot steps of his oldest brother Sean as a wrestler, and his older brother Jackson in football and baseball. Currently Beau is playing in his second season at the AA level of American Legion baseball for Missoula’s hidden gem the Missoula Mavericks, as his older brother Jackson King did not to long ago.
On the diamond King as a dual threat playing all three outfield positions, and is the backup catcher behind Clayton Franke. 2018 veteran Maverick James Martin talks about what Beau brings to the team, “He is a real competitor and the life of our team, he has the ability to get anyone up at anytime.”
In the fall Beau will be stepping on to the football field for his last season as a Sentinel Spartan as he will be going into his senior year at Sentinel. Following in the footsteps of his older brother Jackson, Beau lines up on the defensive side of the ball as a an all-state defensive back, and he will be stepping up as a defensive leader in his final season on the grid iron. When Beau’s older brother Jackson was asked about what he sees in his younger brothers skills as a defensive player Jackson replied, “What makes Beau unique is more his body build rather than his skills, a defensive back with Beau’s speed and height makes it awfully tough for wide receivers to come down with the ball.”
Saving the best for last Beau takes after his oldest brother Sean as one of the top wrestlers for the Spartan wrestling squad and looks to make a push for a state title this year on the mat. In the 2017-2018 season Beau wrestled at the 145 and 138 weight classes for the Spartans and placed seventh at the Western AA seeding, going on to win two of the four matches he wrestled in at the state tournament.
Beau’s oldest brother Sean is proud of his youngest sibling and can be seen in the stands when Beau is participating in one of his three sports. Sean talks about the advice that he received from his father and passes it down to Beau, “Dad is such a good coach and has done a really good job of teaching all of us everything we need, not only in sports but in life. The thing that I try to pass down to Beau is work ethic, to both Jackson and Beau who are so gifted, making them both really special.”
Beau is a special athlete that is skilled in three major sports and receives support from a pair of caring brothers. The King boys have been a staple in the Missoula prep sports scene for almost a decade, and with the youngest in Beau going into his senior year at Sentinel this fall Missoula will have one last chance to see Beau dazzle us all.
