The 2018 Montana/Alberta American Legion Baseball ranking were updated as of Sunday July 15th and with a week left in the regular season things are starting to shape up with a few possible surprises making it to the tournament.
The Top Half
In the upper half of the conference their is no surprise in the top two teams, with the Bozeman Bucks leading the way with a two game cushion over the second place Billings Royals. The inspiring team this season is the Kalispell Lakers who have a chance to work their way past the Royals with five games remaining in the regular season. To finish out the top four teams is the Missoula Mavericks who have been consistently working their up the rankings ladder with a tough second base and short stop wall to control the middle of the field.
The Second Half
On the lower side of the rankings there are few teams that might surprise you, but as the saying goes, “The postseason is a whole new season.” Finding themselves in the lower half are the Helena Senators who pushed their way deep into the 2017 tournament, and the Billings Scarlets who are always a strong contender. The Great Falls Chargers are a surprise sitting at the rung above last place and are in serious trouble of being on the outside locking in when the regular season comes to a close next week. Take note in the Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs as they are surging in the final weeks of the Legion season, and could make the trip south to Kalispell for the state tournament.
