Polsons Hobbs Shots Past Field To Take Boys Side Of MCPS Invite

The second day of the MCPS Invite opened with fairer weather then the first day, but players had to deal with the strong Hellgate Canyon winds at the Canyon River Golf Course. Golfers started their day early in the morning on Tuesday and though it was the middle of August it felt as though it was early October with players wearing heavy coats and winter hats. By mid morning the winds had calmed down and the golfers dug into their final round of the MCPS Invite.

As he did in the first day Polson’s Matt Hobbs matched his score of 72 and held on to the top spot by out shooting Sentinels surging Jack Johnston by two strokes. Johnston and Hobbs played the round paired with Zel Frost of Stevensville and Hobbs’ Polson team mate Trey Kelley, and all four golfers battled on every whole to maintain their spot on the leader board. By the end of the round the second day of the MCPS Invite ended as it had started, with Hobbs on top of the field followed by Johnston Frost and Kelley.

The golfers will enjoy the rest of the week before the teams head to Fairmont next week for a two day event starting Monday.
