On a smokey Saturday morning in Laurel Montana the Loyola Sacred Heart soccer program took on the Locomotives in a boys and girls soccer doubleheader and the Locomotives sent the two Loyola teams home with a pair of losses.
The first game was between the boys and it was a tight match all the way through despite the 3-0 final. Laurel spent the majority of the first half on the Ram side of the field with Layne Chelgren and Ricky Temporal keeping the pressure on Rams keeper Daniel Kaleva. With the Locomotive mid-fielders pushing the ball Laurel found themselves controlling the game and would have 11 corner kicks and nine shots on goal in the first half alone. The Rams would not go away with the Ogilvie brothers, Austin and Clayton, feeding the ball to Jack Lincoln, and in all Loyola had a total of nine shots on goal in the game.
Game two did not have as tight of score as the first between the boys as Laurel ran away with the game in the first half and held the Breakers scoreless to finish with a 12-0 win over the Loyola girls. The Locomotives found the back of the net 12 times off 34 shots on goal over the 80 minutes played with Laurel mid-fielder Gracey Willis earning herself a hat trick with a goal in the 37th minute of the first half, and in the 32nd and 26th minute of the second half. Morgan Maack of the Locomotives pitched in with two goals, and all together eight girls put the ball in the back of the net for Laurel, three of which where none starters.
Loyola will enjoy a week off before hosting the Polson Pirates on Saturday.
