Spartan Boys Shut Out Big Sky, Weather Controls Girls Game

Thursdays soccer match up between Sentinel and Big Sky was a tale of two games defined by more then just the play on the field, allowing the weather to play a factor.

Boys – Sentinel Over Big Sky 8-0

It would be the boys that took the field first at Big Sky high school and Sentinel did not waste any time going on the attack as Spartan forward Noah McNeilis put a ball the back of the net in the 33rd minute of the first half. From there Sentinel took off to hold a four goal lead at the half time break, with Spartan defender Jake Larson leading all shooters with two goals in the first 40 minutes of play. Sentinel went on to keep the Eagles out of the net, only allowing nine shots and three corner kicks in the game.

Girls – Game Called Due To Weather

Things did not look good for the girls game as soon as the boys game finished and the officials called a 30 minute lightning delay, forcing the two teams inside the building. An evenly matched game started 10 minutes behind due to the weather with the play on the field creating thunder and lightning as both teams spread the field going on the attack. Two thirds of the way through the first half lightning flashed across the Blue Mountain Range and the refs called a second 30 minute lighting delay. As the two teams came from the shelter of halls of Big Sky high school the light drizzle that was falling became rain and the officials called the game.
