Sentinel Soccer Splits Final Match Of The Regular Season

On a sunny brisk Thursday afternoon the 2018 prep soccer regular season came to close for the Sentinel Spartans as they made a trip north to play the Glacier Wolfpack in Kalispell with the girls finishing with a 4-2 loss, and the boys swung back with a 2-0 win.

It was ladies first on the pitch between the two Class AA Western Division teams with Glacier jumping on the board out of the gate with a goal in the 40th minute. Sentinel came back with a pair of goals to take the lead, then in the waning moments of the half the Wolfpack evened the score with a goal.

With second half adjustments made by both coaches the opening minutes of the second half became a chess match to see who could find a chink in the others armor. As the second half played on it was Glacier who capitalized off their half time adjustments and dropped the ball into the back of the net, not once but twice to take the lead and hold on for the win.

In between games Glacier took a moment to recognize their seniors on the final regular season game of the 2018 season, and after the ceremonies died down the fast paced boys game kicked off. Glacier controlled the pressure out of the gate hungry after a tough loss to the Hellgate Knights earlier in the week in Missoula, but it was Sentinel who found their way past the keeper to score goals.

Down one of their stars on the defensive side of the ball in Jake Larson Spartan soccer stand out Luke Joy stepped up and flexed his athletic ability to lead Sentinel past the Wolfpack. Glacier was down but not out at the half, turning the ball back into the Spartan side of the field to put the pressure on Sentinel’s defense, but the spartans would shut down any type of Wolfpack advance in the second half to finish the season with a win.
