Weekly Prep Spotlight 10/23

As we approach the end of October it means that the end of the fall sports season is coming an end for the sports that remain in action, but for one sport we will have the MHSA state tournaments.

Starting on Thursday the 2018 Class AA boys and girls soccer state tournament will kick off, and Class A will have their boys and girls soccer championship games to finish of the season. For Class A soccer it has been a two week process where the teams have been battling through a weekly bracket to make it to the championship game.

On the girls side of the pitch it will be an all East championship game with Billings Central hosting Laurel, and for the boys it’s an all Flathead Valley pairing for the state title with Polson making a trip North to play Whitefish. Both Class A championship games will start at 1:00 pm on Saturday.

In Class AA soccer tournament action five of the six Missoula teams will be in the three day tournament with the Big Sky boys on the outside looking in. The girls will be presented by all three Missoula schools with Big Sky sitting on top, Sentinel hanging out in second from the west, and Hellgate claiming the third place seed. Big Sky will start with Senior, Sentinel faces Bozeman to start off, and Hellgate will have a game against West with all three games starting at 12:00 pm Thursday.

For boys Class AA soccer Hellgate has dominated the season in the run for a record breaking fifth straight Class AA state Championship. Hellgate sits at the top of of western side of the bracket and they will face the fourth seeded Skyview Falcons first, while Sentinel claimed the third seed putting them up against the second seeded Senior Broncs out of the East.

All games will begin at 12:00 pm on Thursday from Siebel Fields in Helena, with the semi final games on Friday, and the championship game will be played out Saturday.
