There is only a small percentage of prep athletes that get the opportunity to play the sport they love past high school, but for one of the Missoula Mavericks pitchers that dream is going to come true.
Sentinel Spartan senior and Missoula Maverick ace pitcher Dylan Chalmers recently signed a letter of intent to attend Yakima Valley College and pitch for the Yaks. Chalmers has been pitching at the AA level for the Mavs for the past two seasons and will be entering his final season as an eligible legion player this spring.
In his first season with the Maverick pitching staff Chalmers had the opportunity to learn along side the likes of Nick Yovetich and Ryan McHugh who led the team from the mound in their final season as a Maverick. Coming off a season where he stood as the number one man on the mound Chalmers talks about his focus through the summer while considering his collegiate options, “It was in the back of my mind, but I never let it get to me. Hathaway does a great job of getting us ready for each game.”
Dylan will finish out his senior year at Sentinel before spending his last summer as a Maverick before heading to college.
