With temperatures in the teens and snow on the ground the University of Montana softball team will begin their 2019 campaign with practice on Monday with two Missoula girls representing their home town.
For Junior Morgan Johnson it will be her third season taking the field for the Lady Griz softball program as Montana goes into their fifth season in program history. The catcher from Big Sky is primarily used as a pinch hitter played in 22 games in the 2018 season, four of which were starts as the designated hitter. Johnson would finish the year with three hits in 30 at-bats, one extra base hit, and one RBI.
Brooklyn Weisgram will go into her first practice as one of seven freshman on a 17 player roster for the Lady Griz softball program. During the fall portion of the season the freshman from Sentinel was one of two two freshman to knock one over the fence, and finished one of the top four batters who had nine or more plate appearances.
Johnson and Weisgram will have their first practice of 2019 season on Monday to start the four week count down before Montana opens the season against Santa Clara and UC Davis on February 8th.
