In a Class C basketball doubleheader Friday night the Victor Pirates made the trip up highway 93 to take on the Valley Christian Eagles that found Victor coming away with a pair of wins.

It would be the boys who would take to the hardwood in the first game with Victor jumping out in an electrifying fashion as senior point guard Mason Agee knocked down a trio of three pointers to put the Pirates ahead. When the first quarter horn went off Agee had scored 13 of Victor’s 18 points, going on to finish with 19 points in the first half, and led all scorers with a game total 35 points.
Down 26-14 to start the second half the Eagles applied their half time changes starting with isolating Brennan Cox who had the ball on a wire from beyond the arc in the second half, but Victor’s Agee matched Cox every time he knocked down a three. Valley Christian freshman starter Riley Reimer surged in the third quarter with four points in the paint and knocked down a free throw on an and one to urge a comeback by the Eagles, but the first quarter run was to big of a deficit for Valley Christian.

The night cap game was a hard fought battle between two teams that took the game right down to the wire. The Lady Eagles played tough defense in the first quarter to hold Victor scoreless until Bella Scischilone hit a jumper at the buzzer to get Victor on the board. As the two teams played through the second quarter it would be come obvious that it was going be a physical game as both teams would be in the bonus early in the second quarter.
Holding on to a six point lead to start the third quarter Valley Christian went back to playing physical basketball on the offensive end of the court, earning the Lady Eagles multiple trips to the free throw line. As the fourth quarter began to play out it seemed as though the a piece of glass had been placed over Valley Christians hoop allowing the Lady Pirates to chip away at the lead and finish the game with a win.
