To complete the crosstown doubleheader between Hellgate and Big Sky the girls would step on to the hardwood to play for a city title and Hellgate would come away with a 55-33 win to complete the crosstown sweep.
As in the boys game Hellgate jumped out to an early lead, only the girls would do a better job of keeping Big Sky off the board as Hellgate would out shoot Big Sky 13-1 in the opening frame. Big Sky was able to whittle down the Hellgate lead, and after Big Sky’s Mia Sandau knocked down a pair of free throws to finish the first half Hellgate over Big Sky 25-19.
Big Sky made their adjustments at the half to come out shooting in the third quarter to chip away at the Hellgate lead, but the girls in black and red did their best to match Big Sky’s efforts to come up short to allow Big Sky in the door. With Big Sky trying to make a comeback Hellgate girls head coach Rob Henthorn went back to the suffocating defense in the opening two quarters to hold Big Sky to eight points in the final frame to earn the win.
