Hellgate Girls Move On To Semi-Final At Class AA Basketball Divisional

To tip off the 2019 Class AA girls divisional tournament the Hellgate girls would face their crosstown nemeses in the Sentinel Lady Spartans for the third time and Hellgate would take Sentinel 44-26.

In the opening quarter it was a game of feeling each other out on the offensive side few the ball with the first quarter buzzer sounding and Hellgate having a 10-8 advantage over Sentinel. It was in the second quarter that the momentum swung into Hellgate’s favor as the Hellgate girls put their foot on to the gas pedal on the offensive end of the court by controlling the board to get the second chance shot.

Having a 13 point cushion to start the second half the Hellgate girls went back to work on the boards on both ends of the court to keep Sentinel off balance. Freshman leaders Bailee Sayler and Addy Heaphy set the pace of the game from the point for Hellgate in the third quarter, with veteran Emma Blakely leading the way. Deep in third, and once again in the fourth Sentinel tried to chip away at the Hellgate lead, but the Hellgate lead was to much and Sentinel could not hold on.

The first divisional win for Hellgate will put them up against the top seeded Helena Lady Bengals Friday in the semi-final game.
