Baseball
- 1936 - New York Yankees' player Joe DiMaggio makes his major-league debut, gets three hits.
- 1951 - New York Yankees' player Gil McDougald is 5th to get six RBI's in an inning (9th).
- 1959 - Detroit Tigers' Charlie Maxwell hits four consecutive home runs in a doubleheader.
- 1961 - Warren Spahn pitches a two hitter after pitching a no hitter.
- 1963 - Leslie Narum is the only Baltimore Orioles' player to homer on his first at bat.
- 1965 - Third Mayor's Trophy Game, New York Mets beat New York Yankees 2-1 in ten innings.
- 1973 - Kansas City Royals' George Brett gets his first major league hit.
- 1979 - Bobby Bonds hits his 300th home run (second to have 300 home runs and 300 stolen bases).

- 1992 - Baltimore Orioles' pitcher Gregg Olson, 25, is youngest to record 100 saves.
- 1992 - New York Mets player Eddie Murray is 24th to hit 400 home runs.
- 1995 - David Bell debuts for the Cleveland Indians (third generation player, Gus and Buddy).
