Our past has shaped the present by many things in history including sports, here is how sports marked our history today.

Baseball

  • In 1943 the fastest nine inning American League baseball game is played in 89 minutes with the White Sox beating the Senators.

Boxing

  • In 1966 Muhammad Ali TKO’s Henry Cooper in six rounds for the heavyweight boxing title.

Hockey

  • In 2006 the Swedish ice hockey team Tre Kronor takes gold at the World Championship to become the first nation to hold both the World and Olympic titles separately in the same year.

Miscellaneous

  • In 1819 the first bicycle known as the swift walker is introduced in New York City.

Soccer

  • In 1904 the Federation Internationale de Football Association, FIFA, forms in Paris France.
