Our past has shaped the present by many things in history including sports, here is how sports marked our history today.

Baseball

  • In 1960 Baltimore manager Paul Richards devises over sized catcher’s mitt to be used by Oriole catcher Clint Courtney.

Football

  • In 1968 George Halas retires from coaching, finishing with 318 regular-season wins and 6 NFL titles with the Chicago Bears.

Hockey 

  • In 1982 John McMullen buys NHL’s Colorado Rockies & gets approval to move to NJ.

Miscellaneous

  • In 1961 Ralph Boston of United States sets the then long jump record at 27′ ½”.
