Baseball

• In 1937 the Phillies trailing 8-2 to St Louis, forfeit the game.

Basketball

• In 1946 The Basketball Association of America is formed in New York City.

Football

• In 1966 the NFL & AFL announce their merger as the NFL.

Golf

• In 1977 the musical group The Doobie Brothers sponsor a Golf Classic & Concert for United Way.

Hockey

• In 2007 the Anaheim Ducks defeat Ottawa Senators, 6-2 for a 4-1 series win, it’s Ducks’ first Stanley Cup Championship.

Miscellaneous

• In 1944 Baseball cancels all games honoring D-Day invasion.
