Bravettes Win Defensive Battle Against Big Sky To Stay Alive At Divisional

For the second day tip off game at the Class AA Divisional tournament it was a win or go home match up between the bottom two teams in the Class AA girls western conference with the Flathead Bravettes staying alive with a 37-21 win over Big Sky.

Things started off slow in the opening quarter with the team foul count jumping up as the two teams went hard from the tip. When the first quarter came to a close there was an equal amount fouls as points with the Lady Eagles up 6-5 on the scoreboard,  Big Sky also led the team foul count at 6-5. Both coaches using the quarter break to calm their players down the second quarter shaped up to being a more controlled game. It was Flathead’s offense that made the deference, the Bravettes would knock down a three pointer in four consecutive trips down the court.

Holding on to a 17-14 lead to start the second half Flathead clamped down on their defense to keep Big Sky from scoring by controlling the boards at both ends of the court. With a hectic first quarter that tagged Big Sky players with numerous fouls the Lady Eagles struggled to put pressure on Flathead with out the whistle sounding on each defensive stand. The Flathead defense kept the pressure on Big Sky throughout the game as Big Sky was held to single digit points in each quarter.

Falling to the Flathead girls Friday morning at the divisional tournament signifies the end of the 2018-2019 basketball season for Big Sky.
