To open the play in the 2019 Class B Western Divisional Tournament the Loyola Breakers would run away from Thompson Falls in 65-25 win to move on to the semi-final game.
It was obvious from the start that it was not going to be a close contest as the Breakers held the Lady Blue Hawks scoreless until the three minute mark of the first quarter. The first half was all about the Breakers press as Loyola built their lead off of turnovers caused by the press, outscoring Thompson Falls by nine in the first quarter, and 17 in the second quarter.
Holding a 38-6 lead to start the third quarter Loyola went back to work on the defensive side of the ball while keeping their foot on the gas pedal out shooting the Lady Blue Hawks 19-9, forcing the clock to run late in the third quarter due to the 40 point mercy rule. Up by 38 points to start the final frame Coach Walker of Loyola began to sub in bench players who received quality playing time at the tournament level, cruising to a win to advance on the winners side of the bracket.
The Breakers will take on the Anaconda Lady Copperheads in the first girls semi-final game Friday at 4:00 pm.
