The stage is set for the 2019 Class B Divisional Tournament as the Loyola Breakers will take on the Florence Lady Falcons to claim the number one spot from the west going into the Class B State Tournament.
Breakers
In the first girls semi-final game it was familiar faces that would step on the court with the Anaconda Lady Copperheads taking on the Loyola Breakers. Right out of the gate the two teams seemed to lack the ability to settle in as turnovers ran rampant to the point that neither team could get into a rhythm to knock down shots. Once the second quarter rolled around Loyola found their spark to take off on a scoring streak where the Breakers out shot the Lady Copperheads 22-10 to finish out the half.
To start the third quarter it was the Lady Copperheads who jumped out with the first five points of the second half to get the ball rolling, putting the Breakers on their heals. Down by 11 at the start the third frame Anaconda began to chip away at the Loyola lead, and at one point had cut the lead to within two, but Loyola set their press and the momentum would slide back into the Breakers favor. With the gap at seven points to start the final frame Loyola put the the gas pedal to the floor and out scored Anaconda 18-9, earning a trip to the championship game.
Lady Falcons
For the second semi-final game in the girls bracket it was two powerhouses that took the floor as Bigfork played Florence for a trip to the championship game. From the jump Florence had control of the game with a stiff defense that kept Bigfork in check while giving the Lady Falcons opportunities on the fast break. By the time the first half buzzer went off Florence had tipped the scale in their favor by shooting 64% while holding Bigfork to just 28% from the field.
Down by 12 to start the third quarter Bigfork dug in and began to make the climb back into the game by out shooting the Lady Falcons 13-10. With a deep bench to keep fresh legs on the court Florence began to wear down Bigfork to the point that the Valkyries began to run into foul trouble late in the game. Despite the surge in the third frame by Bigfork the Lady Falcons held strong and went on a run of their own in the final quarter to seal the deal to face Loyola in the Chairmanship game Saturday night.
