Getting back into action for the first time in a week Valley Christian took to the hardwood by playing host to Darby and the Tigers would hand the Eagles a pair of losses with the boys taking game one 38-21, and the Lady Tigers capped the night off with a 50-25 win.
Tigers vs Eagles
In the first game of the night it was the boys to take the court and from the beginning it was obvious the hoop was not going to be friendly to either side. It was Darby who found the bottom of the bucket first going on a small run through the first quarter, with Valley Christian not getting on the board until 1:16 left in the first quarter when Eyan Becker knocked down a jumper.
With the score favoring the Tigers to start the second half it looked as the shooting woes would continue for both sides as the two teams would combine for nine points in the the third quarter. As if the whistle to start the final quarter had lifted the cloud over the hoop Darby began to knock down shots, out scoring the Eagles 15-8 in the final frame to seal the win.
Lady Tigers vs Lady Eagles
The girls took the court in the second game and Darby went right to work on the Lady Eagles with a stiff defense that resulted in fast break points for the Lady Tigers. Valley Christian found a rhythm in the second quarter out scoring Darby 10-6, but the 17 points earned by the Lady Tigers in the opening frame gave Darby a 10 point lead going into the half.
Darby came out of the break with the same energy as they had to start the game and finished the third quarter as they did in the opening frame by putting up 20 points while holding the Lady Eagles to three points. Valley Christian kept a study rotation going through the second half to try and were down the Lady Tigers, but a combination of a stifling defense and the hot hand of Casey Ehmann was to much to overcome and Darby road away with the win.
