For the second of three crosstown games this week the Hellgate Knights would host the Sentinel Spartans for a chance to claim the city title and the Knights would finish off the Spartans with a 74-35 win.
Sentinel began the game winning the tip off and knocked down their opening shot, but it was the Knights who came out gun slinging as 12 of Hellgate’s first 16 points came from beyond the arc. Despite being able to find the bottom of the bucket in the first half Sentinel was not able to keep up the Knight’s fast pace game which left the Spartans down by 15 to finish the half.
Having had a chance to see each others play the two veteran head coaches instituted a fresh game plan, but once again the Knights put the pedal to the floor and Hellgate began to walk away from Sentinel. Holding a heavy lead with just under five minutes left in the game Hellgate subbed in bench players, and minutes later the Knights would push the lead out to 40 points, igniting the mercy rule which set the running clock into motion, allowing Hellagte to finish with a win.
