Second Half Shooting Moves Sentinel Past Big Sky

To cap the opening day off at the Class AA Divisional at Glacier high school it was a crosstown match that resulted in the Sentinel Spartans taking down the Big Sky Eagles 51-34.

For the third match between the two teams on the season the opening quarter was a tight race unlike the previous two matches as Sentinel dominated both of those games from the jump. With a combined 11 points scored in the first quarter both teams stretched out their offense in the second quarter and began to find the bottom of the bucket with the Spartans increasing their lead to nine points when the half time break came around.

Coming out of the half up 25-16 the Spartans took control of the boards, out rebounding Big Sky 12-7 in the second half on the defensive end. Limiting the Eagles second chance points by dominating the rebound game Sentinel pushed the pace of the game and road the fast break to stretch their lead out. After building the gap between the two teams to double digits the Spartans slide their bench players in and cruised to a victory over their crosstown foe.

The Spartans will take on the Capital Bruins in the semi-final night cap game Friday night while Big Sky will face Flathead Friday afternoon in a win or go home game.
