Sunday Recap 3-31-19

The spring prep sports season was supposed to kick off this past week, but for some sports it was another frustrating week of reschedules and cancellations due to unsafe field conditions.

Softball
To start the softball season the Sentinel Spartans were scheduled to play the Frenchtown Broncs on Tuesday, but due to field conditions the game would be rescheduled for Thursday, and moved from Frenchtown to Sentinel. Saturday was scheduled to be the start of the season for the other three high school softball programs in Missoula with Loyola heading to Eureka, and all three MCPS schools in Great Falls for the annual jamboree, but Loyola would have their game rescheduled and the jamboree was canceled.

Track & Field
Loyola and Valley Christian started their 2019 track and field season at the Jim Johnson Invitational in Frenchtown on Friday. After having the Blue Devil Invitational cancelled the previous week, Loyola got on the track and took off. The 24 team meet was made up of teams from Class A, Class B, and Class C schools from as far away as Whitehall and Fort Benton.

Tennis
These athletes are still practicing inside due to the city not allowing the tennis courts at Fort Missoula and Playfair  to be shoveled off. All local tennis teams have been practicing at the Peak for a small fee per player.
