• In 2008 PGA Players Championship, Sergio García of Spain claims the biggest win of his career to date in a sudden-death playoff over American Paul Goydos

• In 1893 Henri Desgrange establishes world’s first bicycle world record, travelling 35.325 km (21.95 miles) an hour

NHL

• In 1968 at the Stanley Cup Final, Defenceman J. C. Tremblay fires home the winner as Montreal Canadiens edge St Louis Blues, 3-2 for a 4-0 series sweep
