- In 1904 at the Stanley Cup, Ottawa HC beats Winnipeg Rowing Club, 2-0 for 2-1 challenge series victory.

- In 1887 Thomas Stevens is the first person to bicycle around the world, from San Francisco to San Francisco.
NBA
- In 1975 the New Orleans Jazz set a then NBA record (with 24-second shot clock) by scoring only 20 points in the first half of a 111-89 loss in Seattle, the unwanted record stands for nearly 25 years.
NFL
- In 1942 in the 4th NFL All Star Game, Chicago Bears beat NFL All-Stars, 35-24.
