Our past has shaped the present by many things in history including sports, here is how sports marked our history today.

Baseball

  • In 1991 the Minnesota Twins beat Atlanta Braves, 1-0 in 10 in Game 7 at Hubert H. Humphrey Metro dome, It’s the Twins second Baseball World Series since move to Minneapolis. Twins pitcher Jack Morris MVP.

Basketball

  • In 1961 the American Basketball League starts play.

College Football

  • In 2001 at the 13th College Football Holy War, Boston College beats Notre Dame 21-17 in Chestnut Hill.

Hockey

  • In 1973 the Islanders beat Rangers for the first time,-3-2.

NFL

  • In 1995 the contract finalizing Cleveland Browns’ move to Baltimore is signed.

  • In 1980 Dave Gryllis sets world bicycle speed record of 94.37 kph.
