Baseball

  • In 1920 the first brothers oppose each other in World Series, Cleveland’s Wheeler Johnston pinch-hits as brother Jimmy plays 3rd base for Brooklyn

Golf

  • In 1928 at the PGA Championship Leo Diegel dominates Al Espinosa, 6 & 5 in the final to win the first of his 2 consecutive titles

Miscellaneous

  • In 1857 the first American Chess Congress hosted by the American Chess Association in NYC, NY, won by Paul Morphy 10 November

NHL

  • In 1962 at the 16th NHL All-Star Game, Toronto Maple Leafs beat All-Stars, 4-1. MVP: Eddie Shack, Toronto, LW
