Our past has shaped the present by many things in history including sports, here is how sports marked our history today.

Baseball

  • In 1926 the Chicago Tribune reports the Tigers threw a 4-game series to the White Sox in 1917 to help Chicago win the pennant, the report is never substantiated.

College Football

  • In 2016 at the 83rd Orange Bowl #10 Florida State beats #6 Michigan 33-32.

Hockey

  • In 1896 Stanley Cup Ernie McLea scores a hat-trick as Montreal Victorias beat Winnipeg Victorias 6-5. It’s the first SC Challenge game played outside of Montreal.

Miscellaneous

  • In 1989 Dmitri Volkov swims world record 50m freestyle in 27.15 seconds.

NFL

  • In 1962 at the National Football League Championship the Green Bay Packers beat NY Giants 16-7. The MVP is awarded to Green Bay LB Ray Nitschke.
