• In 1989 Celtic KC Jones and Cavalier Lenny Wilkens elected to NBA Hall of Fame.

• In 1961 AFL’s LA Chargers move to San Diego.

Olympics

• In 1968 American 2-time world champion Peggy Fleming comfortably wins Olympic women’s figure skating gold medal at the Grenoble Winter Games.
