Today In Sports History 5/11

Our past has shaped the present by many things in history including sports, here is how sports marked our history today. Many believed that the boycott was in response to the U. S.’s boycott of the 1980 Olympics due to the Soviet Unions intervention in Afghanistan in 1979.

Baseball

  • In 1983 President Reagan signed a proclamation naming the month of May National Amateur Baseball Month.

Football

  • In 2015 The NFL announced that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady would suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2015 regular season for violating the NFL policy on the integrity of the game for his knowledge of deflating footballs after the officials had inspected them.

Soccer

  • In 1985 in Bradford England, fire engulfed the main grandstand at the Bradford Soccer Stadium killing 56 fans, and injuring over 200 more.
