Baseball

• In 1957 the National League approves baseball’s Brooklyn Dodgers’ & NY Giants’ move from the east coast to the west coast.

Hockey 

• In 2003 long time Colorado Avalanche goalie Patrick Roy officially announces his retirement from the NHL.

• In  1742 the first indoor swimming pool opens, located in Goodman’s Fields, London.
