• In 1922 US Supreme Court rules that organized baseball is a sport and not a business and thus not subject to antitrust laws.

Basketball

• In 1980 Larry Bird beats out Magic Johnson for NBA rookie of year.

Golf

• In 1972 Sandra Palmer wins first of 2 majors by a massive 10 strokes from Judy Rankin and Mickey Wright.

Hockey 

• In 1993 NHL Clarence Campbell Conference Final the Los Angeles Kings beat the Toronto Maple Leafs, 4 games to 3.

• In 1985 Amputee Steve Fonyo completes cross-Canada marathon at Victoria, British Columbia, after 14 months
