Baseball

  • In 1894 Bobby Lowe is the first to hit 4 home runs in 1 baseball game.

Boxing

  • In 1987 Mike Tyson TKOs Pinklon Thomas in 6 rounds for the heavyweight boxing title.

Golf

  • In 1937 in the 20th PGA Championship Denny Shute wins at Pittsburgh FC Aspinwall PA.

Hockey 

  • In 1985 the Stanley Cup Final the Edmonton Oilers take back-to-back titles; beating the Philadelphia Flyers, 8-3 for a 4-1 series victory. Wayne Gretzky and Jari Kurri each post a goal and 3 assists.

  • In 1896 the first car accident occurs, Henry Wells hits a cyclist in New York City.
