Baseball

• In 1980 Jack Nicklaus sets new tournament scoring record 272 (-8) to win his 4th US Open Men’s Golf title, 2 strokes ahead of Isao Aoki of Japan.

Hockey

• In 2015 the Chicago Blackhawks defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-0 for a 4-2 series victory in the Stanley Cup Final, it’s the Blackhawks’ 6th Championship.

Olympics

• In 1955 The International Olympic Committee votes to award Rome the rights to host the 1960 Summer Olympic Games..
