  • In 1994 at the US Open Women’s, Patty Sheehan wins her second title in three years, 1 stroke ahead of runner-up Tammie Green; it’s her fifth of her six major titles.

  • In 1908 John Hayes wins his fourth Olympic marathon at a World Record 2:55:18.4.
