Our past has shaped the present by many things in history including sports, here is how sports marked our history today.

Baseball

  • In 1901 11 baseball games are canceled due to the funeral of President William McKinley.

Football

  • In 1876 talks begin to set up a football club in Ottawa.

Golf

  • In  1931 at the men’s PGA Championship 20 year old American Tom Creavy beats Denny Shute, 2 & 1 in the final for his lone major title.

Miscellaneous

  • In 1971 the first NYC Women’s Marathon won by Beth Bonner in 2:55:22.
