  • In 1906 St. Louis University quarterback Bradbury Robinson throws first legal forward pass in the history of American football for a TD to Jack Schneider at Carroll College, Waukesha, Wisconsin, St. Louis wins 22-0

Olympics

  • In 1960 Cassius Clay Muhammad Ali beats 3-time European champion Zbigniew Pietrzykowski of Poland by unanimous points decision to win Olympic light heavyweight boxing gold medal at the Rome Games
